I must say I have found such comfort in my morning walks with my dog Kovu. That morning walk has easily become my daily meditation. My reset moment, come to self moment. The wisdom of nature, the presence of the divine, of source in the wind, trees, the critters and leaves. It grounds me and compels me to challenge my human experience. And understand myself in greater context.
Energetics of Fall
As the season has changed, from Summer to Fall, as I find myself in a particular season of change and transition, I can’t help but draw parallels. I find the transition from Summer to Fall always so shocking to the system, I never get used to the cold, my immune system gets tested and I get armed with the Vicks vapo rub and Ginger tea. There is this natural resistance. And yet it’s one of the most enigmatic and important seasons of transition and I can’t wait to dive in and share why.
The energetic of the fall season seem so contradictory to the transition from winter to spring, where as soon as I feel the warm breeze and the invitation of warm weather, the longer and brighter days, I’m energized. There seems to be so much free energy to go around, I want to be out and about, moving and getting my day going, from the moment I feel the sun rise. There is this duality between the two, this idea of preservation vs liberation. And it makes sense, nature gives in abundance for a season and then it has to re-source itself, it has to regenerate and replenish to be able to do it all over again.
And when you can appreciate that as nature moves through seasons, so do we, then there can be this true understanding and peace that grows for the cycles that unfold within.
Here I was rewiring my mental understanding of success, because success for me up until this point, was endless summer, honeymoon phase. Get out of the struggle and never go back. But to keep moving and to keep evolving, you have to constantly be willing to shed old skin, constantly be willing to be faced with new versions of yourself and confront the old ones. You have to be willing to prune out what needs pruning, you have to be the wise one at times and the teacher, the protector at times and also be the child, the creative, the rebel and the open womb at other times. You have to be in the shadows at times, in order to shine and you have to pour life back into your cup before it can run over.
Scarcity Mindset and Stagnancy
Living in an endless summer, denies you the opportunities to learn and grow and nurture yourself. It sets you up to do the very thing you’re avoiding to do. It makes you stagnant, It makes you fail. It burns you out. We need fall. The opportunity to get a little cozier with ourselves and slow down. So when the darkness comes, embrace it, let it engulf you, let it show you what needs tending to, let it strengthen new muscles, let it make you uncomfortable enough to make the necessary changes you need to make and ask the difficult questions you avoid to ask.
I had some powerful sessions with my therapist, shout out to her, she’s amazing. One thing she said to me was you’ve been through worse, you can overcome this, context was something entirely different but the sentiment remains the same. And the second thing she mentioned to me was, you’re probably more secure than you think, you might not feel secure but you’re more secure than you think. And those two things, I’ve let them really sink in and marinate because, we’re programmed to protect ourselves and we keep good memory of what hurts us or what could potentially harm us. But what happens when we’re only protecting our imagination and past wounds, and how does this mindset and that reality limit us.
I don’t need protection from dragons I’ve already slayed. When a farmer has a bad harvest one season, they make the most out of the crops they have and they add the new knowledge to their toolbox but they understand that each season is going to be unique, and they adapt accordingly. They don’t stop farming and they don’t stay stuck in their old ways. With all the struggles I’ve been through, I have the choice to be as closed off as ever and say well “If you knew what I’d been through” or I can be the most liberated, agile, intuitive and wise I’ve ever been and say “If you knew what I’d discovered and learned, how I’ve grown”.
Moving through a though season is hard, a mindset shift doesn’t make it less sucky, but it provides context, it gives perspective to say, yes this sucks right now, but it won’t suck forever, I can and I will survive this, as I’ve survived other things, as people who came before me have survived, and what lies ahead of this, is an explosion of possibilities and a life that I am here to embrace and live out to it’s absolute fullest.

Breathwork
Find a place of comfort
Feel your body connect to the matter that surrounds it, ground yourself in that feeling
You are alive
Pay attention to your breath, to the sensations in your body, simply notice without resistance, observe
Its okay for thoughts to come up, do not wrestle or fight
Surrender
As you ease into this path of non resistance expand your inhale, allow your breath to move from your nose, down to your throat, chest, ribs, lower belly, legs and feet. As you exhale find the strength from your diaphragm, as your ribs draw in, allow your breath to move out purposefully, massaging every corner of your abdomen and lower back, your lungs and heart, your vocal cords and nostrils.
Explore the path of your inhales and exhales.
The journey of the breath is one of discovery and new opportunity.
No one breath is ever the same. With each inhale an opportunity to receive the universes kiss of love and kindness and with each exhale an opportunity to release that love and kindness back into your surroundings.
You are the intention. And your actions today are the manifestation.
